They were innocent. No one was convicted of their murders. For decades\, their names were nearly forgotten. \n\n\n\nThis is not a distant history. It is a history that was buried\, and burying is a choice.Derek Davidson’s “Mauzy” asks us to sit with that choice. The play borrows its architecture from a 14th-century Japanese Noh drama\, its music from the Appalachian mountains\, and its moral weight from a real street corner in a real American city. What it builds from those materials is something I don’t think theatre does often enough: it insists that the unspeakable be spoken\, that the buried be named\, that the people we have chosen to forget be given back their full weight. We are living in a current moment that keeps asking us the same question this play asks. I’ll let the play ask it in its own way. But I will say this: I don’t think any of us will leave unchanged. Elias Clayton. Elmer Jackson. Isaac McGhie.” – Rachel Sabo-Hedges (Director) \n\n\n\nMEET THE COMPANY \n\n\n\n\nANNA GRACE CRAWFORD (Mauzy) (She/Her) is a Texas native and recent alumna from Long Island University Brooklyn in association with The New Group\, where she studied acting with a concentration in music. SUMMARY:ColLab Staged Reading Series: Stupid Boring Straight People by Seth Barnes
DESCRIPTION:What do you think your friends think you think of them? ColLab’s Staged Reading Series is so back at Off The Lane in 2026 with “Stupid Boring Straight People” by Seth Barnes! Join us as four couples in varying degrees of love and anguish navigate one disastrous Halloween party. \n\n\n\nThe ColLab staged reading series reimagines what a “reading” can be. Instead of a static presentation\, we transform the room into an immersive environment that surrounds audiences with the world of the piece while honoring the development of a new script (audience members won’t be required to participate unless they want to.) The result? Developmental presentations that feel alive\, communal\, and exciting\, because we believe interactive storytelling is the next generation of creative connection. \n\n\n\nOur crazy talented cast of couples includes Jared Palmer Kirsch\, Bryanna Marie Felipe\, Caleb Schantz\, Elena Cramer\, Alec Ludacka\, Emily Eidman\, D.B. Milliken\, and Malia Munley. \n\n\n\nDirected by Rachel Sabo-Hedges \n\n\n\n(Note: Alcoholic & Non-Alcoholic Beverages will be available to purchase – all proceeds will go to future OTL artists and projects) \n\n\n\nTHIS COMMUNITY EVENT IS SUPPORTED\, IN PART\, BY PUBLIC FUNDS FROM THE NEW YORKCITY DEPARTMENT OF CULTURAL AFFAIRS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CITY COUNCIL. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMEET THE COMPANY \n\n\n\nSeth Barnes (he/him) (PLAYWRIGHT) is a Wisconsin-born\, Brooklyn-based playwright with a BFA in Acting and a Minor in Creative Writing from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. SUMMARY:Sam Clark Birthday Fundraiser (featuring a staged parody reading of the Princess Bride)
DESCRIPTION:Life is pain\, highness. Anyone who says differently is selling something. \n\n\n\nJoin us for a fundraiser event to support our dear friend Sam Clark! Sam is currently battling Glioblastoma (an aggressive form of brain cancer). Off The Lane is thrilled to be hosting this birthday fundraiser and we’ll be featuring a staged parody reading of THE PRINCESS BRIDE\, a special request from our very own Princess Buttercup Sam Clark himself… and of course we responded just as the farmboy once did; “As you wish.” \n\n\n\nHaving been ‘mostly dead’ all day\, your adventure begins at 7pm\, where you would enjoy a cocktail hour and light bites. Then at 8pm\, sit back\, relax and enjoy an INCONCEIVABLE staged parody reading of the beloved 1987 film\, THE PRINCESS BRIDE. This is true love\, do you think this happens every day?  \n\n\n\nWait a minute hold on hold on. Is this a kissing book?…Keep your shirt on…it’s a digital Silent Auction that is NOW LIVE at this link!! Prepare to bid!! There will also be live auction items and other ways to donate throughout the evening. Stay tuned and have fun storming the castle! \n\n\n\nAll ticket and auction proceeds will go to Sam’s medical expenses and Off The Lane. \n\n\n\nTo make additional donations towards Sam’s fight\, please visit the GoFundMe \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMeet the Cast & Crew of The Princess Bride (A Staged Parody Reading) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJillian Paige (Buttercup/Mother) has two cats\, one Master’s in Music Theatre from Oklahoma City University\, and an infinite love of hot dogs. She recently made her Off-Broadway debut as the villainous Madame DeFarge in A Tale of Two Cities with the Village Light Opera Group. Alongside performing\, Jillian is a passionate second generation Meisner teacher\, designated by the Meisner Institute\, and Founder of Meisner in Music\, the premier class to infuse the Meisner technique with singing. @MeisnerinMusic @JillianPaige \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDeven Anderson (Humperdink/Vizzini/Director/Playwright) is thrilled to be working with Off the Lane and this production of Princess Bride for the glorious Sam Clark. Deven and Sam first met working for Mustard Lane many moons ago passing out chocolate covered pretzels in Times Square for Deven’s first Lead shift (We wont mention that Deven lost track of where Sam went – I mean where wouldn’t he go with that level of charisma?). Several increasingly challenging  New York Comic Con events later and working for a stamina testing Snapchat Pop Up Shop together for over 3months\, Sam and Deven quickly realized there was no escaping that fabled NYC mutual nexus of support and friendship. Deven eventually veered off into a land of cardboard and parodies and Sam was always front row center\, laughing and smiling. Here we are again\, and this one’s for you pal.   \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBen (Grandpa/Miracle Max/Rodent 1) loves being here with you tonight. He is a former classmate of Deven’s from Circle In The Square Theater School\, where they participated in such unique exercises as “physical acting with that guy who taught Robocop how to walk” and “scene study with Philip Seymour Hoffman’s Philip Seymour Hoffman”\, among others. He loved that\, too. While not reading for a warm audience like yourselves\, he’s produced theater from church basements to Broadway stages\, has written six plays\, two screenplays\, two video game storylines with dialogue\, and is currently working on a Lovecraftian-style podcast. Thanks for being here. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSteve Liski (Inigo Montoya/Rodent 2) is excited to be making his Off The Lane debut in The Princess Bride.  He is thrilled to be here for his love of Sam (Happy Birthday Sammy!)\, The Princess Bride\, and Deven. Thanks and love to his wonderful Wife whom without her\, he wouldn’t be here right now.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKeith (Count Rugen/Fezzik/Kid/Rodent 3) is a New York City based actor\, originally from Dublin Ireland. Graduate of the university of Michigans musical theatre program. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMila Liskiewicz (Stagehand/Eels/Rollers/Rocks/Union Rep) had the highest honor of wearing a unitard and face paint in a show her husband is convinced is about space cats. She also spent 6 years wearing exclusively beige and singing about a lot of Ham. Mila is excited to get silly with Off The Lane after not being allowed to smile for those 6 years. All the love to her best friend\, who also happens to be her husband. \n\n\n\n \n The form is not published.
