Speaker Series time! We’re back with The Art of Wellness — this time with a focus on refreshing and resetting our bodies and minds as we approach a post-COVID world. Our industry is finally opening back up, and with the return of a new normal, we can anticipate some anxieties as we shift our routines from isolation to getting back on the grind. Through The Art of Wellness programming, we hope that you’ll leave feeling ready to take on the world!

Everyone will join us via Zoom for a Welcome by Danielle Beckmann & Opening Class with Spoken Word Poet & Branding Coach, JRose. The breakout rooms will open and you will go to your pre-selected 30 Minute Class, either Refresh & Reset Yoga led by Sumi Yu or Your Holistic Health Reset for Reentering the Outside World led by Sarah Jacobs. At the end of the class, you will return to the main room for a final segment on How to Stay Consistent Through the Ups and Downs of Your Artistic Career led by our lovely host, Danielle Beckmann.

How to Stay Consistent Through the Ups and Downs of Your Artistic Career

Danielle Beckmann is a coach, actor, producer and writer originally from San Diego, living in Los Angeles by way of NYC. In 2014 Danielle started coaching under her company Clinch the Callback that led countless actors into fruitful bookings and jobs. Now with the Spirited Storyteller, Danielle coaches all types of artists and leads them into long-term sustained career success. Danielle has also worked in casting and producing, and the most recent film she produced and starred in, Liza Anonymous, is an official selection for the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival. She worked at the commercial office of Stacy Gallo Casting in NYC, and she has been on casting teams for short films such as Interior Teresa, So, then tell me. and Liza Anonymous. Danielle loves to create comedic and genuine content with her husband at their production company Brooklyn Quarter. Her favorite things are a strong cup of tea, a long hike, a snuggle on the couch while watching Star Wars, and quality time with friends (she is vaccinated and VERY excited to hug her friends again!).

Rewriting Wellness Through Poetry

Introduction to Poetry & Spoken Word. We will discuss the difference between the two and the benefits of using Poetry/Spoken Word as a tool for self care.

JRose is a spoken word artist born and raised in Queens, NY. Her love for Hip Hop inspired her to start writing poetry over 20 years ago. In 2015 she decided to take her poetry from paper to the stage and since then she’s been featured on stages all over New York, such as The Nuyorican, Inspired Word NYC, Open Mic Renegades, Bronx Poetry and many more. In 2018, she established a creative platform called, The Rose Garden Events and has grown to become a powerhouse beyond her local community. JRose has expanded to curating and hosting performance based events such as, monthly open mic nights, showcases, fundraisers, virtual events, small business expos (VenDivA Expo) and more. In 2020 her creative journey led JRose to media production and journalism. She launched her first talk show titled “The JRose Experience”, where she brings an intimate look into the creative process of poetry, music, art and entrepreneurship from the perspective of Poets.

JRose now mentors many Poets & Entrepreneurs looking to find their creative path. She facilitates Spoken Word workshops that teach children & young adults how to use poetry as the voice for their communities. JRose is on a journey to fulfil her purpose in life, which is; provide a safe space and outlet for artists and business owners to be seen and heard. Her belief that there is no such thing as a garden with just one flower is the driving force behind her consistency and dedication to serve the artistic community.

Sarah Jacobs is a Certified Holistic Nutritional Counselor and Health Coach and the creator of “This is Not a Detox” – a total-body, holistic health reset for lasting healthy change. After spending over 10 years in the entertainment industry, Sarah fell victim to chronic illness and autoimmune disorder which prompted her to delve deeper into nutritional studies. Now, she provides the support and encouragement to others that she wishes she had sooner. SUMI YU: Yoga Teacher

Refresh and Reset Yoga Flow

Sumi Yu is a professional actress in New York City as well as an AFAA Certified Group Fitness Instructor and 200 Hour Certified Yoga instructor through CorePower Yoga. Sumi is originally from Tokyo, Japan and moved to NYC in 2015. Sumi has been seen performing in musicals all over the country as well as at local prestigious theaters including Lincoln Center and New York City Center. Starting this August, Sumi will be seen as a recurring role in the upcoming TV series “Heels” on Starz. On weekends, Sumi teaches yoga virtually on Zoom and has raised over $1500 via her fundraiser classes for which 100% of the profits have been donated to organizations that support Stop Asian Hate, Black Lives Matter and vaccine funds for India.
