Off The Lane (OTL) is a New York City nonprofit that supports emerging and mid-career artists through mentorship, career development, new-work creation, and community.
We believe artists need people in their corner, practical tools for building sustainable careers, space to experiment, and a community where they can make meaningful connections.
OTL creates those opportunities through free and accessible programs designed by artists, for artists. From one-on-one mentorship and individualized career guidance to innovative, interdisciplinary and interactive performance to community events, we give NYC artists the resources, relationships, and space to keep creating.
Our Story
Off The Lane is a licensed 501(c)(3) founded in 2019 by artist and entrepreneur Kristal Mallookis, who saw a need for more accessible resources and meaningful connection within New York City’s creative community. Drawing from her experience building Mustard Lane, a staffing agency employing artists, Kristal created OTL to help artists navigate the professional and personal challenges of building a creative career.
