Our 2022 Recap

As 2022 comes to a close, we are so grateful for all that has happened at Off The Lane, from new artistic feats and program development, to overall organizational growth. We couldn’t do it without YOU, our wonderful community and all of your support.

So what all happened this year?

Off The Lane’s Community

WE RAISED $90,000

From the small cents that add up through Amazon Smile, to direct gifts from our generous donors, we are thrilled to receive more funding that will help us keep our programming and resources free for artists.

WE GREW OUR INTERNAL TEAM

We added some new folks to our internal team this year, including Christine Schermerhorn, our new Secretary, Gerome Samante, our newest board member, and Amanda Giampaglia, our latest intern turned social media manager.

WE HOSTED A CABARET

Members of our community organized to create a cabaret event called “Past and Future: A Revue.” Performers sang and dance to songs from their past that have influenced their present, and songs that make them hopeful for the future.

WE CELEBRATED BUDDING CAREERS

Vivinna DeSantiago, a talented dancer and performer from Arizona, moved to NYC and wrapped up her year as the first Ann Reinking Scholarship winner. She reflected on her life in the big city through a series of blog posts.

The Mentorship Program

WE WELCOMED NEW TEAM MEMBERS

Previous Mentors Nichole Naccash and Vincenzo Hinckley took over the Mentorship Program as the new Co-Chairs. We are so thankful for the hard work they’ve put into the program, and we are wishing this couple a happy marriage in the new year! We also welcomed MP5 Mentee Samantha Roberts to our Mentorship Committee.

WE HAD 17 MENTEES GRADUATE

Another successful year of supporting mulitdisciplinary young artists through the Mentorship Program. Next year, we’ll celebrate MP9 and MP10!

The BOOST Program

WE CELEBRATED 2 YEARS

BOOST Co-Chairs Ayana Bey and Jillian Vitko spent the last 2 years building BOOST from the ground up. We’re so proud of them and thankful for their belief in helping early-career artists find their paths and reach their goals.

WE HELD OUR 2ND BOOST BANTERS

Our BOOST Co-Chairs curated a panel of experts to answer industry questions and provide one-on-one advice to our BOOSTers. Each professional has hand-picked for each of our BOOSTers based on their specialites.

WE HAD 5 NEW BOOSTERS GRADUATE

Our 2022 BOOSTers were hard at work carving out their career paths and finding what they truly want in life. From singers and dancers to educations and disability activists, these BOOSTers have very bright futures, and we cannot wait to watch them shine. Check out some of their blog features below:

ColLab

WE LAUNCHED A NEW PROGRAM

Our Community Coordinator Sophie Brubaker proposed a new program to connect multidisciplinary artists. Through ColLab, NYC artists can grow their network, collaborate on ideas, and create innovative performance pieces.

WE HELD COLLAB MIXERS

Old and new members of our community came together for our first two ColLab workshops. Through a mixer-like setting, these artists made new connections, shared their creative goals, and bounced ideas off one another.

WE PRODUCED OUR FIRST COLLAB PROJECT

Inspired by a one-on-one performance he went to, Ryan Gerberding, an actor/director/writer, came up with the idea for A Night of Spirits. A group of multi-disciplinary artists came together to create individual, one-on-one performances with spooky undertones for an exciting late-October event. As part of ColLab, all participants were financially compensated for their work.

Thank you all for an amazing year.

We’re so excited to see what 2023 brings, and we can’t wait to share it with you.
